9 Cute & Easy-to-Use Halloween Gift Tags (Free Printable!)

Updated: Oct 24

It’s officially spooky season—which in my house means candy bowls on every surface, pumpkin cookies in the oven, and at least three DIY projects happening at once. 🎃

This year, I wanted to add a little extra magic to my Halloween gifting, so I designed a set of 9 cute and easy-to-use Halloween tags that you can print right from home! Whether you’re “boo-ing” your neighbors, putting together teacher gifts, or wrapping up treats for your besties, these tags are a simple way to make your gifts feel festive and personal—without spending a fortune or losing your mind in the craft aisle.

And because you know I believe in sharing happiness, I’m giving them to you as a free digital download! 💌

The Inspiration Behind the Tags

Halloween can be spooky, but I wanted to lean into the sweet side of spooky. I’m talking candy corn, happy ghosts, cozy oranges and purples—the kind of Halloween aesthetic that’s more Hocus Pocus and less haunted mansion.

When I was designing these tags, I pictured moms wrapping up little treat bags for school parties, friends dropping off surprise “You’ve Been Booed!” baskets, and cozy October nights where you’re just looking for one more way to make someone smile.

These tags are meant to be that little final touch—the thing that makes your package say, “I thought of you!”

What’s Included

There are 9 different designs included on one sheet, and each one has its own fun vibe. Here’s a peek at what you’ll get:

  1. Sweet Not Spooky – Covered in candy corn, because honestly… candy corn deserves its moment. (haha ya either love it or hate it)

  2. You’re Spooktacular! – Purple stars and happy energy, perfect for friends or teachers.

  3. Halloween Words Print – All the festive words we love—“boo,” “eek,” “treat,” and more!

  4. Mini Skulls – Not creepy. Perfect for older kids or anyone who loves a little edge.

  5. Happy Halloween Stripes – Classic Halloween colors that go with everything.

  6. Tiny Pumpkins – Sweet and simple, for all your fall-themed gifting.

  7. You’ve Been Booed! – The must-have tag for neighborhood boo baskets.

  8. Thinking of You – Because spooky season is also for spreading kindness.

  9. Ghosts & Flowers – My personal favorite: girly ghosts and pink blooms.

You can print and cut out each tag individually, and mix and match them for your projects!

How to Use These Tags

The best part about printable tags is that they’re so easy. You can use them in so many ways:

  • Tie them to a mason jar full of Halloween treats 🍬

  • Add one to a batch of cookies or pumpkin bread you’re gifting

  • Tape them to a bag of caramel corn for your kids’ teachers

  • Attach one to a wrapped candle or small gift

  • Use them in your “You’ve Been Booed!” baskets

  • Or just add one to a simple treat bag for a cozy October touch

Here's how I used one of the tags for a mini "boo mug" for some content and an example for Hello Happy Towels!

I love printing mine on white cardstock so they have a little structure and don’t bend easily. Then, I just cut them out with scissors (or a paper cutter if you want perfect lines), hole punch the top, and tie them on with twine or ribbon.

Printing Tips

A few quick tips to help your tags look their best:

  • Use white cardstock. Regular printer paper works in a pinch, but cardstock gives that professional, gift-ready feel.

  • Check your print settings. Make sure you print at 100% scale or “actual size” so the tags don’t shrink or stretch.

  • Cut carefully! If you want super-straight lines, a small paper trimmer or craft blade can help.

  • Punch and string. A regular hole punch and some baker’s twine or ribbon finish them off perfectly.

I designed them to be easy enough for anyone to print and use—no fancy cutting machines required!

Why I Love Printables

There’s something so satisfying about creating something beautiful from your own printer. It’s instant creativity. You don’t have to wait for shipping, and you can print as many as you need—whenever inspiration strikes.

As a designer (and mom), I’m all about those quick wins that make life a little more joyful. And that’s exactly what these tags are: small, happy details that make your everyday moments feel a little more intentional. Plus, if your kids love crafts, this can be a fun project to do together! Have them help cut or tie the tags on. It’s an easy way to get them involved and make some memories while you’re at it.

A Little Behind-the-Scenes

Every year, I like to design something new for Halloween (fall + Halloween are my fave to design for!)—something that feels cozy and cheerful, with a little modern twist. These tags were inspired by my love for all things colorful and nostalgic. I played around with candy corn patterns, happy ghosts, and hand-lettered fonts until everything felt just right.

And yes… these coordinate with my Halloween collection for Hello Happy Towels (of course)!

Final Thoughts

This season can be so busy with costumes, parties, and pumpkin everything—but I’ve learned that it’s the little things that make it magical. A thoughtful tag on a treat.A handwritten note to a friend.A tiny reminder that joy is in the details. These tags are my small way of helping you spread that same joy. So go ahead—print them out, grab your scissors, and start “boo-ing” your friends in style.

Happy Halloween, my friend. 💜🖤🧡
